Ingredients: 1/2 cup butter; 1 1/2 cup sugar; 2 eggs; 2 T cocoa; 2 oz red food color; 1/2 t salt; 1 t vanilla; 1 cup buttermilk; 2 1/2 cups sifted cake flour; 1 T vinegar; 1 t soda

Directions

1Cream Buter and sugar.

2 Add eggs one at a time.

3Make a paste with cocoa and food coloring.

4Add to creamed mixture.

5Mix salt and vanilla with buttermilk.

6Add to creamed mixture alternately with flour.

7Dissolve soda in vinegar and add to mixture.

8Bake in two 9 inch layer pans which have been greased and floured.

9Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes
