Colonial Bread Pudding

Directions

1Soak the bread crumbs in the half-and-half for 6 minutes. Stir in the remaining ingredients.

2Pour mixture into a buttered 13x9 inch baking dish.

3Put the dish in a larger baking pan, pour enough hot water into the pan to reach halfway up the sides of the dish, and bake the pudding in the middle of a preheated 350 oven for 1 hour, or until it is golden.

4Serve warm with whipped cream.

Ingredients

2 cups bread crumbs, fine dry

4 cups half and half

1 cup sugar

1/2 Tablespoon unsalted butter, in bits

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

5 eggs, large

2 teaspoons vanilla

1/2 cup raisins
