Pecan Shortbread Cookies

Directions

1Beat together the butter and the brown sugar for 5 minutes or until the mixture is light and fluffy.

2In a large bowl stir together the flour, the salt, chopped pecans, and oats.

3Stir in the butter mixture and combine the dough well.

4Drop rounded tablespoon measure of the dough onto an ungreased baking sheet.

5Flatten with palm of your hand so each round is about 1/2 inch thick.

6Press a pecan half on top of each cookie and bake in a 325 oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden.

2 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, softened

1 1/4 cups brown sugar, packed

2 1/2 cups flour

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

1/3 cup pecans, coarsely chopped

24 pecan halves

1/2 cup rolled oats
