Cranberry Pudding with Vanilla Sauce

Directions

Pudding

1Combine first four ingredients.

2Add soda to hot water and mix lightly with first mixture.

3Pour into greased 1 quart mold. Cover tightly with foil.

4Steam over boiling water for 1 1/2 hours.

Sauce

1Combine sugar, flour, butter and cream. Bring to a boil over low heat. Cook two or three minutes. Add vanilla. Serve hot over steamed pudding.

If doubling recipe increase cooking time by one hour.
Can be made ahead. Wrap tightly in foil and store in refrigerator. Reheat in a 300 oven for 30 minutes or so.

1 1/3 cups flour

1/2 cup molasses

2 cups raw cranberries

1/4 cup chopped nuts

2 teaspoons baking soda

1/3 cup hot water

Sauce

1 cup sugar

2 teaspoons flour

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup half and half

1/2 teaspoon vanilla
